How to find the good indie stuff

The store front pages are a wall of the same twenty games. The interesting stuff lives underneath, and finding it takes a bit of effort — but not as much as you'd think.

I follow small developers directly, watch a few community threads, and pay attention to games that get quietly recommended over and over rather than the ones with a marketing push. Lucky Coin came to us that way, entirely through word of mouth.

Reviews help too, obviously, but read them for detail rather than scores. A reviewer describing a specific mechanic tells you far more than a five-star average from a thousand strangers.

Most of all, be willing to spend an hour on something weird. Half the time it won't click. The other half you'll find the game you tell everyone about for the next month.
